Theatre includes: recently, Chichester Festival Theatre's Hobson's Choice (tour). Much regional theatre since he joined the Manchester Library Theatre Company in 1967 include, most recently, repertoire at Keswick's Theatre by the Lake in Habeas Corpus, Black Comedy, The Real Inspector Hound and Mrs Warren's Profession. In London: Kean (Globe/ Gielgud), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Piccadilly), The Black Prince (Aldwych), The Cabinet Minister (Albery), The Forest (NT) and The Mousetrap (St Martin's). Also, among several West End experiences in the understudy underground, he played when needed in The Rehearsal (Garrick) and Hay Fever (Albery).
